چکیده

The Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) Delta is one of the largest deltas in world, covering more than 100,000 km 2 . GBM River system transports over billion tons sediment annually and delivers ∼750 million to Bay Bengal, ∼25% which advected by tides into fluvially abandoned western delta plain. Fluvial water discharge are controlled southwest Asian monsoon, with wet season rates exceeding those dry a factor five. Sundarbans National Forest (SNF) located within and, 10,000 , world's continuous mangrove stand. present rate delivery allows SNF platform elevation keep pace regional sea level rise, but India's Linking Project (NRLP) could decrease suspended loads Ganges Brahmaputra Rivers 39–75% 9–25% respectively, thus may change future sedimentation. In this study, we examine whether stored tidal channels serve as an additional source for nourishment, if resuspended delivered throughout year. Over two field seasons, 70 shallow (<50 cm) cores were collected from channel banks, imaged using x-radiography observe fine scale changes depositional characteristics on subsampled textural geochemical analyses. half examined there no style laminations, suggesting that processes controlling deposition remain constant year, despite seasonal external supply. Transience and Persistence in the Depositional Record of Continental Margins

Continental shelves and coastal plains are large persistent depositional landforms, which are stationary (nonmigrating) at their proximal ends and characterized by relatively steady long-term growth. In detail, however, their surface form and stratigraphic record is built of transient freely migrating landscape elements. We derive the timescales of crossover from transient to persistent topogra...

Seasonal variability in 7Be depositional fluxes at Granada, Spain.

Measurement of 7Be depositional fluxes at Granada, Spain (37 degrees 10'50''N-3 degrees 35'44''W, altitude 670 m) in the period 1995 through 1998 indicates substantial variations between the four seasons and also between corresponding seasons in different years, ranging from 23.6 to 242 Bq m(-2) per season. A strongly positive correlation with precipitation is shown, which explains about 70% of...

Febrile Convulsions in Children: Demographic Features, Causes and Seasonal Pattern

Background and Objectives: Febrile convulsion (FC) is the most common seizure disorder in childhood period. Some studies have suggested association between seasons and occurrence of FC. This study was designed to determine demographic features, causes and seasonal variations in cases with FC. Method: In this descriptive, cross sectional study, 282 children 6- 60 months with FC were admitted to ...

A rising tide lifts all phytoplankton: Growth response of other phytoplankton taxa in diatom-dominated blooms

[1] Oceanic phytoplankton assemblages composed predominantly of picophytoplankton respond to the onset of favorable growth conditions with diatom-dominated blooms, the formation of which involves characteristic growth and accumulation responses by both diatoms and the ambient nondiatom community. Contrary to conventional wisdom, both groups of phytoplankton increase in growth rates and absolute...
